Introducing Finland

           " I chose Finland because it offered the chance to study abroad in my field and in a dynamic environment at the University. I knew very little about the Nordic country, but Finland sounded very interesting and presented a different experience. Now, I´m studying for a master´s and although this country and its culture are so different than mine, I enjoy the winter weather and I´m excited to celebrate the summer arrival as well. I´m constantly amazed at the honesty and loyalty of the Finns. The education system is very independent and the multicultural groups are interesting and challenging. Day by day I acquire interesting knowledge within my master´s program and new things about myself. However, without a doubt, the best of this experience are the people, Finns and foreigners…all the nice people I´ve met and with whom I´ve shared my days in Finland "

Already five weeks in Oulu and I´ve learned so many things in this time. Oulu is a small city if I compare it to the size of the cities in my country, however it is high tech and the quality of life is without a doubt that of a developed country.

University of Oulu is the most important university in northern Finland, and that´s why this place is full of young people who have come here to study.

I can see many differences in the culture and climate conditions that might define the profile of people, or at least it has a lot of influence. The city is quiet and I feel the lifestyle is more relaxed, no rushing, like in crowded places.

The reason why I´m in Finland is very simple … I was working in Mexico in a multinational company. It was very interesting job and I enjoyed it so much, however inside me was a strong feeling to go abroad and experience work-life in a European country.

That´s why I decided to apply for an internship through AIESEC. During my research I had some options in the marketing field, including Finland ... and finally here I am, very close to the Arctic Circle… 

I´m still living in the stage where everything surprises me, this is my third program abroad, but this country is extremely different from anything I have experienced. Climate conditions, infrastructure, food, people, language.
